The original was just a stick figure. It wasn’t popular until much later, when the Tsukasa one (actually it was Tsukasa’s head in a stick body) became so popular it started the fad.
It would help if it was more than just a two frame animation (3 for the worm). I can see the basics of what they’re doing, though I doubt that I’ll ever understand it even if I heard an explaination.
There used to be a flute/ukulele player on niconico,しましまP, who often posted instrumental remixes of popular music. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm836593
And then for some unknown reason there was a brief period of time where he couldn’t (wasn’t allowed?) to play the instruments. His urge to play the instrument suddenly bursted and the result was http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm1728363 . The music was 100percent adlib without any re-recording. creation time equaled recording time. The animation was suppose to express his “rising tension” (which is what “minagiru” means). Basically…It was a result of the author’s “flute withdrawal symptoms”
Thanks for the great explanation, tre. =D
Also, it’s kind of a coincedence that I noticed an inu-Sakuya version of this on Nico just a few days before you posted this.
The song’s rythm clearly says that he wants to play the flute no matter what. And the stick is acting like: “OH GOD! I WANT TO PLAY THE FLUTE RIGHT NOW! I CAN’T LIVE WITH IT ARRGGHH! *tantrum* *dancing* *crawl* *roll* *tantrum*”
@Cobalt:
Can you read Spanish or German? They translated the website into those languages just this past summer (which of course irritates both a friend of mine and myself to no end).
…What?
I will never understand you, Japan.

Come on, the original was even more random.
Is that supposed to be someone’s theme?

Too much physical activity for that lazy couple. Despite the overall WTFness it has a cute ending xD.

Tre: Ah, thanks. It all makes sense now:
The song’s rythm clearly says that he wants to play the flute no matter what. And the stick is acting like: “OH GOD! I WANT TO PLAY THE FLUTE RIGHT NOW! I CAN’T LIVE WITH IT ARRGGHH! *tantrum* *dancing* *crawl* *roll* *tantrum*”
“Flute Withdrawal symptoms” FTW

Now I finally found a meme-historian, to explain the meme for me.
Thank you tre.
