It’s Beowulf! No, not the movie, the epic poem. We watched part of the movie in class, and it’s horribly inaccurate (although I guess this version won’t be too accurate either). And not that good. Anyway, this is going to be sort of like the Hamlet flashes from awhile ago, except not Hamlet. Since “Beowulf” is actually just one super-long poem, it doesn’t actually have acts and scenes, so the parts where I decide to stop will be somewhat arbitrary. This first one is actually before Beowulf actually arrives, so I guess it’s sorta like an intro. Like the Hamlet flashes, don’t expect this to be too textually-accurate either. I mean, really.
Please let there be Marisa and Master Spark saving the day in the next part. Thanks to you every time I wait in a line I have to think “WHO WILL SAVE US NOW!” in hopes of her showing up.
As one who actually read the narrative in middle English…I applaud anyone who can do the same. I’m guessing that the second panel suggests that KirbyM is also reading the middle English version?
Which movie did you see? The most recent one (which I didn’t) or the older one (which I did and thought quite fun in a horribly-inaccurate-but-awesome-epic-viking-fantasy way)?
That’s the best Death by Yuyuko Grendel loop I have seen so far.
Why did I only understand the “song about God” thing until I read Blargel’s comment? orz
This reminds me that the Hamlet flashes are the only ones I didn’t completely watch in my “Watch all hundreds KirbyM daily flashes” marathon. I’ll do it later. /procrastination
I understood the lyrics as being from Hare Hare Yukai, but still only got the “song about God” joke as Fubu72 did. -_- Maybe I can be excused since I’ve only seen the first episode of Haruhi.
Funny, It makes so much more sense when you put it that way. More people are divided about Haruhi now then back then. A good deal of people believed in one or multiples of some form.
Some of us still believe…Ia Ia Azathoth.
I had to read Beowulf before that movie came out, so all we had to watch was The 13th Warrior. Basically Beowulf with an Arab guy. Hooray Antonio Banderas!
I got Japanese language installed when my comp was being formatted but I think you can download it somewhere. So you just change your language in the language bar from English (or whatever your language is) to Japanese.
And then you just set the hiragana and start typing the romaji and it will change into hiragana (or kanji, katakana, random things up to your choice).
You would get amazed at how it isn’t limited to Japanese characters, it even writes greek letters. Though, I think mine is kinda obsolete or something, it can’t even type a turned-A.
So I have to copy-paste it to do the ξ・∀・)めるぽ! face.
Yeah, really!
Lol
I AM BEOWULF!
Nazonazo mitai ni chikyuugi wo tokiakashitara

Hooray for Yuyu-Grendel!
EPIC. @.@
I thought the movie was okay. But yeah, it has little to nothing to do with the poem.
HOORAY FOR YUYUKO! i mean GRENDEL!!!! I hope the next one has more spark :O! or knives…
I’m going to ruin it for you all and say:
Mead = fermented honey.
go figure >_>
Also i thought the movie was good, and it portrayed Beowulf in a more logical/ realistic way. (because Grendel monster are real of course)
Spoilers NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
BTW
Sand Attack!!!! Accuracy took a hit.
Please let there be Marisa and Master Spark saving the day in the next part. Thanks to you every time I wait in a line I have to think “WHO WILL SAVE US NOW!” in hopes of her showing up.
Cirno has got to be Beowulf, along with her 300 viking fairies.
“This is Madness!!”
“No, This is DENMAAARK!!!”
What the…. Hare Hare Yukai?
Lol song about God.

I take it you started reading that book in class recently?
lol grendel

Also, DARN YOU FOX LADY KIRBYM AND YOUR SPOILERS!
I understood the lyrics as being from Hare Hare Yukai, but still only got the “song about God” joke as Fubu72 did. -_- Maybe I can be excused since I’ve only seen the first episode of Haruhi.
Also, angry Yuyuko is angry, cute and deadly.

“A song about God”
Wow. That took me a little while to get, I’m surprised at myself.
god, i hate this book
i failed the essay and now i have to revise it
Oh man a Touhou enactment of Beowulf somehow sounds really, really cool.
But then who would be Beowulf?
… I didn’t get the “song about God” until I read that post, too. XD
Again, Yuyuko eats stuff. Aren’t you overusing her a little?
It’d be nice to see some nuking from Utsuho for a change, for example.
Yuyuko!
Haha spoilers
It seems like we all didn’t get the “song about god” part until we read that post. Myself included.
I blame not engaging in Haruhi-related activities for more than a year now.
Nah, I didn’t get it. Oh well. :D
I had to read Beowulf before that movie came out, so all we had to watch was The 13th Warrior. Basically Beowulf with an Arab guy. Hooray Antonio Banderas!
lol, Hare Hare Yukai is the song of Gods.
And that death by Yuyuko was totally expected this time.
Why have I been watching the death by Yuyuko/Grendel animation for like, 20 minutes…?
OMNOMNOM
i could be considered as god.
see my deviant page

*sees your deviantart page* I haven’t found anything to consider you as god yet. :x
i do have good work….right?
@krisslanza
Beowulf would be either Kourin or Cirno.
Pick one.
Perhaps even Manrisa?
I absolutely detested the movie.
This is so much better, so far.
@Imperishable Fairy: Because it’s AWESOME! \(|ヮ|)/
I got the “Song to god” when I read the panel after that :3
also: Beowulf is awesome. I mean, how many chances do you get to read a poem about someone ripping off the arms of another person?
Also: Wait, if Yuyuko is Grendel… then who’s gonna play the part of…?
fubu72, how do you make japanese letters on the computer?
This was alot more entertaining then the movie, and I didn’t even have to spend an hour of my time watching it! Yay!
@thegreatcreator
You write the letter in Japanese characters of course.
Also, Ia Haruhi! Ia Haruhi! Ia Cthu – *gets shot*
@Project_Mars
… Letty?
i don’t have japanese characters on my keyboard.
