Art Class: Day 3 (And Hina Spin)

Here’s some stuff I did in class. In the morning class, we were supposed to draw something bad happening to our character, and later we had to draw the problem being resolved somehow. Unnamed Character avoided death-by-car because she fell to the ground after dodging a bullet from an imaginary pirate. Then we did some figure drawing, and I had to stand in one spot for like ten minutes while people drew me. The person posing next to me got to sit in a chair, but I guess that’s fine, since she sort of offered me the seat before we began. Anyway, for homework, we had to sketch out the first page for a possible comic.

In the afternoon class, we went over some more flash basics, and went over character rotation. Since I had already animated Unnamed Character spinning, I decided to animate Hina, based on some of the comments from yesterday. I colored it even though we weren’t really supposed to, but it didn’t take that long. I’m getting more used to using “those circles with the lines through them” now, but I kinda notice that sometimes it makes character heads a lot wider than they would normally be, which kinda reminds me of Hidamari Sketch (although my whole art style is basically inspired by Hidamari, so that’s not very unusual to me). Anyhow, I might use this animation again later if I can think of something to use it for.

Art Class: Day 2

Well, here’s the flash I made in class yesterday. It’s Unnamed Character walking. Yeah, it’s not that interesting.

And here’s what I made in class today! It started out as some random character with a headband, but somewhere in the middle I just decided to give it blonde hair, so now I guess it’s Unnamed Character. I also have a strange habit of drawing cats now, whenever I have flash open and have no ideas for what to draw. I decided to stick this cat in a tree, because that’s usually where cats are found. Well I’ve never actually seen a cat in a tree before, but they always have them there in cartoons and stuff.

Scarlet art project

Well, here’s that art project from awhile ago. I actually got it back last Thursday but forgot (or didn’t feel like) posting it. Basically, we had to make some sort of five-panel thing using different elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, space, etc). I used black and white paper, but the heart in the last panel is actually red; I just chose to scan in black and white. It was more intended for people who don’t know what Touhou is, because Sakuya probably wouldn’t be scared of some bats.

Patchcone (And Unnamed Character clay model)

No create.swf update today, sorry. Guess I’ll do it tomorrow. Anyway, COMING UP LATER… PATCHCONE. STAY TUNED. I present to you… PATCHCONE! Yes, Patchcone, that pinecone transformation drawing I had to do in class on January 31st. We got our artwork back yesterday, since school is almost over (It’s still not over yet… sigh), so I decided to scan it. The image was drawn on a piece of paper that was too big for my scanner, so I had to split it up into four different parts. Then I decided I might as well trace over it in flash to make it look nicer. If you want to see the original scans, you can click on these links. When I get back one of my other art projects, I guess I’ll scan it and post it as well.

In other news, here is a clay model of Unnamed Character made by my internet friend k0n! Seriously, it’s awesome.

Projects

Well uhh, I didn’t have any time to make a daily flash today, so sorry about that. Had to go to a friend’s house to do a project, and got home at like 6:30ish. Then later, I ate dinner and whatnot, and then I had to work on an art project. Basically it was a design thing where we had to cut things out of black/white paper and use glue and stuff to create a five-panel story of some sort. The art project turned out quite nice in my opinion.

In mine, there’s a bunch of bats outside a mansion of some sort (perhaps I should’ve made it red… or scarlet) at night time, and then a girl with a poofy hat, a fang, and a set of vampire-like wings appears, and there’s this maid in the mansion who is like “oh noes, it’s some bats and a vampire!” And then it turns out that the vampire girl just wanted some tea. Or coffee. Or whatever’s in the cup in the bottom-right corner of the last panel.

I’d go scan it, but I don’t get how this scanner works, and I have to go now, so I guess I can’t do it. I might do it at the end of the school year when we get our artwork back, along with the “Pinecone-to-Patchy” transformation drawing I did some time ago.
