Laptops

Well, yesterday I wanted to go to Staples to buy new earphones because my good ones broke, and my dad was like “let’s buy a laptop.” Normally, I’d say that I want to wait until college to get one, because by that time, the laptops are probably going to be a lot better and cost a lot less. But apparently it was my uncle who suggested it because I use his computer all the time on weekdays and he wants me to get my own. So now I have a new laptop! It has 4GB of RAM, which is like… 8 times more than what I have on my desktop computer, which is awesome.

  • Nyar…

  • Laptops ARE great, since you can bring them everywhere.
I am also typing this up on a laptop. Yep.

  • I was kinda expecting an infinite loop.

  • There should’ve been a panel where she was in front of the bathroom to give off the impression that she used it in there, but I guess that is based on whether or not the character would do something like that!

  • Laptops are the greatest thing to have on road trips when you are not the one doing the driving and need something to do. Had to do a 10 hour trip down South with stops only for gas and whatnot a couple of weeks back. Nothing quite like Touhou while on the road at 0300 and it gets better when you add a power inverter into the mix.

  • It seems your laptop is better than mine.
But mine is named Alice. The hard drive has been named Shanghai. My external is Hourai. When I get a flash drive, it shall be Orleans.

  • I toyed with the idea of getting 4GB’s of RAM with mine but I decided to stick with 2, which I now regret a bit… then again I didn’t have the money for the upgrade, but still. 2 is still more than I’ll probably use seeing I don’t multi-task much (A game and some Touhou BGM, I’m set)

I named mine, well, Azathoth. I usually just call it Compy (Compy Azathoth?), the home computer is named Comp Comp. I’m very simple when it comes to names.

  • I named mine Youmu, and my mini-USB-mouse is named Myon. I should name my flash drive… Maybe “Random Yuyuko Butterfly” or “Hakurouken?” But then I need to name something “Roukanken” too… The hard rive?

  • I envy you D: I need a new computer and/or laptop

  • That was, without a doubt, the best imagination sequence yet.

  • Awesome. XD

    I want a laptop that good … T.T

  • PLEASE tell me it’s a Windows XP. I have a Vista and it fails with Touhou. But it rules with Mabi :P

  • windows XP-tan has large breasts

  • I’ve heard that Windows Vista is one of the greatest advertisements for Windows XP out there. |3

  • I can’t stand laptops because their keyboard and “mouse” are all screwed up compared to a regular one.

Also, I expected ⑨ after Marisa.

  • I use mine at home mostly, I ahve it conected to my Desktop’s monitor and i rarely move it around. BTW TH games run very well in mine it’s a vista I don’t get “ピコハンP”‘s comment =/. VIsta suck’s only if you don’t kno ho to use it =/, I’d rather have XP but vista isn’t half-bad IMO.

  • Mine’s a Vista, unfortunately. I can play all the Windows Touhou games without issue, but I can’t use Danmakufu… Much to my displeasure, I can’t even downgrade without spending money.

  • are you running a 64bit OS? else the 4gb ram won’t be fully utilised. 32bit uses up to 3.2gb of your ram graphics memory.

  • with thy laptop..thou must create a touhou flash before school starts >_

  • I sure hoped it was an XP. XP-tan is SMEXAY.

Also, I used to have a laptop and I did use it EVERYWHERE: Bus, Starbucks, even in the bathroom (though I won’t go into detail how).

    4GB RAM FTW.

  • @ピコハンP: Unfortunately, it’s Vista, like most new laptops are. But I haven’t really encountered any problems with it (yet), so I guess it’s fine.

@Person: Yeah, I’m not used to using laptop keyboards. I use a wireless mouse on the laptop, so it’s not as weird.

@fishball: Well, I wasn’t actually sure, but I searched the internet! I have whatever this is, probably. Which I assume is 64-bit. Because I have a “Program Files (x86)” folder as well as a regular “Program Files” folder. After reading some stuff, apparently the regular folder is for 64-bit stuff and the x86 one is for 32-bit stuff. Unless I’m not understanding what the internet is telling me, that is (and I’m probably not).

  • oh hay, i got a new laptop myself earlier this month myself

So which laptop did you get?

  • Ahaha Bad End?
Grats on the new laptop sir, first thing I suggest you do is to turn of that security question thing right away. Vista’s not as bad as people say it is until they get used to it. Though I also suggest you partition an xp as well so you can switch off between the two OSes if anything comes up.

  • @Chicle: Well, according to this label, it’s a HP Pavilion dv6930us Entertainment Notebook PC.

@ukki: Yeah, it gets really annoying with it asking me every time I want to do anything. Especially file-renaming and whatnot. I don’t know anything about partitions, though. Or switching OSes.

  • lol nice.
I thought the same when I got my laptop a few months ago, like taking it everywhere. The downside is that it’s damn heavy after some time and my very long way to school becomes torture =_=

  • I recently got a new computer for my father, which has Vista on it, and I’ve found that it’s alright, but I still prefer XP. If you were going to make an XP partition, it seems like it’d be better to just totally switch to XP. I haven’t found anything really worth switching to Vista with, and from what I hear I assume it’s true for pretty much the majority of Windows users.

I think my next upgrade will be a laptop. I usually build my own desktops, but lately I’ve found that I’m just too lazy to deal with that kinda stuff anymore. It’s kinda nice being able to fix any problems that come up with it myself, but I think laptops last long enough that I’d pretty much want an upgrade by the time they break down anyway. And I’m sure taking apart a laptop would be just as fun.

  • @KirbyM: There should be an option to turn that off in the User/Security section if you haven’t done so already. And I haven’t done it myself yet but I heard you can just partition another OS onto your laptop by just installing it as another drive when you pop in the boot disc… that or Vista already provides you with another partition drive itself for convenience.

@Thefre: The main reason why I use vista was the fact that all it’s versions come with all mainstream languages installed so I use it to read japanese stuffs. My computer has a very old (not to mention pirated) version of XP… and the only version that would allow you to install other language packs was the latest one.

  • ::testing:: :D testing a DS browser.

  • I want a laptop. D:

  • what’s a laptop?… does it taste good?
