Scene 5
(There are eight scenes to this documentary and this is the fifth one; the actual embedded flash is in the full post to avoid making people load a ~2MB file on the main page; the other scenes will be posted later)
Scene 5 is about early 3D animations people have seen. This scene probably could’ve been edited better (or at least the order of the interviews), especially the part where Tron is first mentioned, because it sounds like she’s responding to what the person before said, and it may seem a bit confusing until you realize that she’s not. I also don’t know why I included the part where she discusses Tron with a random person in the background, but it probably had to do with the fact that it was entertaining when I first heard it. And as you can probably tell, I got lazy with the lip-syncing again, by putting the computer monitor there so the mouth is hidden (there’s also a yuyuco logo on it).
Oh, and I forgot to mention that two of the interviews weren’t done live — Nina and Kei (check scene 1 if you don’t remember who’s who) were given the questions and they recorded their answers and sent them over via email. Kei still appears in other people’s interviews because he was nearby when I was doing live interviews at school. For some reason, the pre-recorded interviews sound more insightful, but probably because they had time to look at the questions and decide how they wanted to answer before actually recording, while in live interviews, people have no idea what’s going on. And yeah.
oh gosh tron
Lots of Toy Stories. I’m one of ’em.
f*** yea! Tron!
I agree with your instructor, 3D is pig disgusting.
YEEEEEEEEI!!! HOORRAY FOR SHRAKE GAL!!! >w<!!!
HOORAY FOR SHRAKE! :D
Really now, whats up with the Shrake girl?
Shrake girl probably just has an accent.
Yep, TRON was my first 3D animation film too. Of course, since it places live-action people in a 3D computer-generated environment, some people might not count it. I say stick ’em on the game grid. After that, I remember seeing early 3D works like “Tuber’s Two-Step” at animation film fests at the local college/art movie theater.
Shrake girl’s accent’s cute. It also reminds me of an amateur voice actress from Canada who had the oddest drawl; it made her pronounce “dragon” as if it were “dray-gun”…
My first 3D film animation? Space Jam, yes, that was a good movie. Hey, KirbyM, when you are writing, you avoid to write the slightest clue about if you’re a boy or a girl? Mysterious KirbyM is mysterious
PIXAR RULZ
Shrake.
Well, no.
Nobody said ReBoot :(
Is Shrake girl single still? INTRODUCE ME.
I would say reboot.
Man, this makes me feel old. Tron was awesome, and it did use pure 3D animation in a few scenes that didn’t make a lot of sense–something about “gridbugs” that’s never mentioned again.
I’m a fan of Nina. She seems so smart (Maybe because she has a computer near her and wears glasses?)
I’m with alphamone.
HIGH FIVE!
There’s probably some other 3d movie/animation that I watched before, but reboot is the earliest that I remember ATM.
I think Tron is a pretty cool guy … no, wait, that doesn’t work, Tron is his actual name.
ooo the earliest one i remember…. was taht short film from Bug’s Life with the old man vsing himself in chess 8D! that thing was trippy o_o”
Well, the Tron from ’82 was both hillarious and awesome :)
have to admit i watched it because the game though
Oh… uhh… I think the first was Bug’s Life, or what. But “Shrake” was the first what really impressed me. Then all this 3D bullsh*t became popular and bad. Except Wall-E. That was good.
Ohh, I know all of the old Pixar shorts from the 80’s.
I like your teachers. We could probably talk for hours.
Oh, yeah, the old guy who’s beating himself in a chess game, didn’t remember that. And, the first 3D I saw I think it was Transformers Beast Wars or ReBoot, don’t remeber well and don’t really think they were earlier than Toy Story.
Toy Story.
Or was it Bug’s Life?
What about REBOOT????
I remember Toy Story and Bug’s Life
“Did anybody see Tron?”
“No.”
“No.”
“No.”
“No.”
“Yes…I mean, no.”
First 3D animation I saw? Probably this compilation of 3D shorts we had on VHS at home called the Mind’s Eye.
Ok, I LOL’ed at “I’m not a fan of 3D. (…) I like flat.”
shrake
8D
oh!
i get what nietz is saying
The return of Shrake girl.
LOL Yuyu Co.=YUYUKO
Beast Wars and REBOOT. Hellz yeah.
Add one more vote for Toy Story. Before that, I didn’t even know animation could be done in 3D.
For 3D animation, does “claymations” count? If so, the earliest 3D animation I can clearly remember seeing is Gumby!
Oh, whoops, people said Beast Wars and ReBoot already. Shucks, I’m unoriginal.
Yes, ReBoot and Beast wars came before Toy Story, to answer an earlier question; ReBoot, according to the wiki, “is the first full-length, completely computer-animated TV series”, with an initial broadcast date of 1994. Toy Story, again according to the wiki, “was the first feature film released to use only computer-generated imagery”, with the release date in November 1995.
lol “ugly baby one”
Wow. The people you’ve interviewed are complete idiots.
