Videos for Oct 25, 2009

Videos: PV involving the SDM cast set to Higurashi’s “Dear You” song (with random Sakuya death), a Ran version of that Koa Koa video (animation’s not as smooth as the Koakuma one, I think), a VOCALOID song based on Lotus Land Story stage 3’s “Bad Apple!!”, a 3D sorta danmaku thing involving IDOLM@STER characters that are sorta dressed like Touhou characters but not exactly (which kinda makes it seem a bit weird I guess), and then Lullaby of Deserted Hell played by ayatoo (followed by a bunch more o’s), ’cause the SA Stage 5 theme my favorite Touhou song. Then some Nicovideo links for some other ones I couldn’t find on YouTube.

  • EPIC Page, EPIC VIDEOS~!

  • It’s nice to see some Higurashi-based Touhou stuff once in a while. Also, Ran-Ran. <:

  • Sakuya-san. ;_;

  • That Minoriko thing is epic.

  • “Bad Apple!!” is actually the BGM for Lotus Land Story stage 3 ( 「`・ω・´)「

    I like Lullaby of Deserted Hell too (  ̄ノ▽ ̄) ̄- ̄)

  • Lullaby~ Lullaby~
    It’s my special Lullaby~
    Here in this, the hottest of Hell~
    A satori, a raven, drunken oni~
    These as far and wide~
    But here, in this, the hottest of Hell~
    There is only one~
    Only one nekomata~

    improvising random-esque lyrics for Lullaby of Deserted Hell is fun

  • @Star: Yar, the Minoriko thing is pretty awesome!

    @Fubu72: Oh. I don’t know these things, so thanks!

  • 1. I’ve seen one or two other videos explore the idea of Sakuya’s death affecting the rest of SDM, as she’s the only human there. However, the other instance(s) implied she’d died of old age, not simply collapsed.

    2. Like the Koakuma version, this was cute, but the original isn’t 3 minutes’ worth of cute. The “Hard Koa” drums and Chens gag made this one more worth the wait (and I always like seeing Bkub’s Chen).

    3. Nicely done. Now I’m trying to remember what other video(s) I’ve seen that used “Bad Apple” arrangements as music. I can almost recall, but it’s eluding me…

    4. The animator was apparently testing how well he could express danmaku patterns using AfterEffects. Pretty impressive, I think. The use of Idol Master characters in Touhou outfits was just his whim.

    5. Most of the SA music I’ve heard seems to have some level of melancholy to it, and this is no exception. Nicely played, barring a mis-step somewhere around the 2:00 mark.

    6. The later part of Marisa’s run through EoSD, if the game had existed on the NES. I’ve no idea how much effort this actually took, but I’m certainly impressed.

    7. “Sakuya Engine” I wasn’t sure what to make of this, then I followed the link to the Lucky Star-based video that this was based on. I thought the LS one would be repetitive, but the creator actually mixed it up enough to keep it worth watching.

    8. “Because I Was Scolded by the Lady of the Rice Paddies” One of a collection of House Mix versions of Touhou music that this person is putting together. There are links to other such versions in the description text. I’m neither here nor there on House Mix style music, but this was pretty nice.

    @Star:
    Ow…I think I hurt some part of my brain watching that, but not entirely in a bad way. It certainly seemed to involve a more production effort than some of the McRolled Touhou stuff I’ve seen…

  • Yeah, Bad Apple was pretty damn good.

  • End of first video, I was surprised to see Romanian on Sakuya’s gravestone :D

    I think it translates to something around “More than anything, we should meet”.
    Although my Romanian is a bit shot.

    If anyone cared that is :P

  • The famicom vid made me sad. Where was the master spark?

    @Star: Oh dear gods no. I think I just died a lot inside. Not like that’s new though. What’s stranger is that I seem to take some sort of sick pleasure from it.

  • …*sniff* I think I got teary-eyed…

    At least Ran cheered me up… I think I’m going cross-eyed now…

    *collapses*

  • I wasn’t expecting a Jung quote at the end of that Bad Apple movie… It’s a reminder that I have to not be late to my psych class in a few minutes!

  • @Axl402:
    Really, Romanian? Wow…I wonder what inspired that.

    @R1CK_D0M:
    She has Final Spark at her disposal, but true to the Famicom/NES adventure games of the time (or at least the DQ style this seems to use), the visual effect of all the spells is pretty much the same.

  • Ran is way too damn happy in her happy dance, there.

  • Hmmm, watching the first video I think it would be great to have a touhou video with Noir song “Cante Per Me”, that would be epic XD

  • @Sprocket:
    Only thing I can think of is Remi’s relation (Be it real or not) with Dracula. Dracula being in , well you know where I’m going with this. :D

    Otherwise, no clue~

  • @Axl4002:
    Ah, good point.

  • Alrighty video time wooo!
