Canada

Seriously though. Of all the Canadian people I know on the internet (there’s a whole bunch of them!), there is only one that I don’t really like. But everyone else is cool. Perhaps literally as well as figuratively, because Canada is in the north, and the temperature can get quite low there. Maybe Cirno’s from Canada. Oh wait no, she’s from Japan.

  • Canada is too cool to touch!

  • Speaking of Canada, a shout out to all the Touhou fans that will be heading there for Anime North. I know there’s a handful of (other) Shrinemaiden regulars that are planning to attend, and I’ll be there to visit members of another online group I’ve been part of for years.

And yes, the US really acts like it’s full of assholes these days. I’m not sure if Canada’s the best place to single out as a comparison, though – a lot of European countries are similarly laid-back. (I have heard nothing but good about Norwegians, for one, and know several friendly Brits.)

  • yay!!! i’m from canada!

  • Woohoo for Canada!

  • Canada is very refreshing…Canada Dry Ginger Ale XD
Canada is a very good place…but too cold to me.
silly laws? like what? (i don´t know much about Canada…)XD

  • Gotta agree with that, all Canadian people I know are AWESOME.

  • Canada has a lot of problems with its economy now…It’s good to live in Canada but it’s probably not going to be as good because of the recession.

  • I’m Canadian, and I agree it’s awesome here. Letty tends to overstay her welcome though but it’s okay!

  • I wish that canada was not really awesome so that we could have had a joke…

  • They have milk there. IN BAGS. No joke; girl I knew sent a video of her sister explaining it.

I really wish I’d saved that Katamari Damacy picture of the prince playing in Canada and saying “BUT THERE’S NOTHING HERE.”

  • TETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

    CANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lolicon is illegal in Canada!!!!

  • yes!!! it is!!!

also, canada doesn’t have milk in bags ~_~

  • AWESOME!

But prices for things here in canada suck :(

  • @BakaRanger

    We used to

Back in the late 90’s I used to drink milk from a bag

  • Whats rare about milk being in bags? I don’t get that part, also I happen to know Canadian people over the interent and I canb say they’re quite nice people, most of them, you can’t generalize though because nothing is absolute. And We have Milk in bags here! Yes t you go to any convinience store and you can get milk in bags -_- Even chocolate milk in bags or vanilla flavored one too. Whats the big deal? And it’s not just 1 company it’s like 4 or 5 of them that sell it that way.

  • mm, I think (as far as I can remember, I’m in Nova Scotia) Baxter, Farmers, and Scotsburn. I wonder why Canada decided to have milk in bags…

  • kirby54321: This is mostly due to its economy being so closely tied to the US, which has been going through an economic breakdown the past few years. I’d rather be in a country with a bad economy and some people that only speak French than a country with a bad economy and a disproportionate number of assholes.

I still stand by there being a lot of other good alternatives, though.

  • but yet, for no reason at all I don’t really like canada.

  • Unrelated but…
Anyone else getting touhou imageboard withdrawal?

  • @AnonyDESU

Pooshlmer somteimes just stops working (both wiki and board) wait som time and try again

  • Or use Danbooru. At least until that goes down for server upgrades.

  • Canada doesn’t get involved in anything because their army is one dude with a hockey stick flying through the air via being tied to a single balloon.

Alternatively, if you want a “Canada” joke, make fun of Quebec. The rest of Canada won’t give a shit and most will probably even help you out.

  • Don’t make fun of Quebec. I’m from there!

  • _____ IS A JORK ):

other than that, canada is awesome

  • In my experience of Canada. You truly do only have to follow the only road. It’s easier to go cross country if you just pass through Canada to go through the US. No tolls. Also, of all the Canadadanians I met while there, only one used “Eh?” and it both broke the Stereotype and was completely awesome all at once.

  • I’m Canadian, and I’m also going to Anime North. It’s awesome here (free health care and stuff like that), but the only thing I don’t like is that we’re too dependant to other countries like U.S and Britain.

Oh, and Cirno hangs out here over winter. So does Letty sometimes ;)

PS: What are you guys talking aboot, eh?

  • You shouldn’t really use countries like United States as standard… I mean umm umm umm.

  • Canada, eh?
    *Gets pelted with Maple leaves*
    *Gets Hockey Stick’d to death*
*Has body gnawed on by beavers*
*gets PUNished by Siki for those bad jokes*
    … 0.0
*slaps self for everything said above this line*

Anyways, The closest to Canada I’ve been was Alaska. But in all seriousness: Canada really is pretty cool. So please don’t injure me for those bad jokes.

  • Momiziri is from canada!(maybe)

  • @Setsi: Come on, United States isn’t that bad. At least we have liberal free speech laws. Unlike some places.

  • Liberal in theory, but lately? Not so much in practice.

    lol civil lawsuits

  • and since the English national anthem for Canada changes every 10 years to stay PC, I suggest this rewrite, “Oh Canada, Why can’t your leaves stay green?” An anthem about an herbologist would be awesome.

Also, my Canadian TA in philosophy described Toronto as Canada’s California. Is that statement accurate?

  • I love Canada. And, of course, Oregon–California’s Canada.

  • KANEDAAAAAAAA!!!

  • @”Project Mars”: “*gets PUNished by Siki for those bad jokes*”
*Gets punished again for mis-spelling Shiki’s name. xD*

    @Moku: O_O … awesomeness depleting…

  • @SomethingUnreal: I’m guessing he was referring to Sikieiki Yamaxanadu, rather than Shinki… whatever her full name is (if she even has one).

  • Agh! I was thinking of her too, but I forgot the unusual spelling for the pronunciation. >_o
Wait a sec, I just checked the Wiki, and her name’s spelt with “四季” at the begining. That’s Japanese for “4 seasons”, which is certainly pronounced as “shi ki”. Apparently you can spell it either way. Strange…

In my head, I always say it with the Japanese syllables, i.e. Shikieiki Yamazanadwu (or however you type ドゥ in romaji ><).
I keep forgetting that it can also be spelt Sikieiki. =/

*Gets punished to the power of 2*

  • I think it might be how Tewi can be spelled both Tewi and Tei…
And how it can be either Huziwara no Mokou or Fuziwara no Mokou.

Although I do think that Shiki is used more… but considering ZUN spelled it Siki in PoFV, any punishment on the spelling of her name can be directed to him.

  • It could also be Fujiwara. ;P (There’s no single ‘zi’ syllable in Japanese ><)
Punishment has once again been redirected. xD

  • VNC is from canada D:

  • Flaming Penguins

    [Speaking as a Canadian]
    FTW!

And also, I’ve not once seen milk in bags. XP
…but we did get a blizzard in mid-April though, which was ridiculous.

  • Canadian here, though I can pretty much step outside and walk across the border into the U.S. Interesting part of this I’ve come to know is that the main current bridge, the Ambassador Bridge, on the Detroit end pretty much empties into a hellhole and the entire surrounding area is pretty much rife with crime. On our side in Windsor? First thing you see coming off the bridge, depending on the direction you go is our University, or a McDonalds and a high school.

We get a hell of a lot of American kids here though, since they can drink in our country but not back at home, so the weekend club/bar scene/industry is like, 70% of the city’s income. It’s ridiculous. They come over here and fight/kill people in our city because they don’t know how to behave in an actual civilized country, doesn’t help either that they’re mostly from Detroit either.

I’d like to attend Anime North to meet some other people from the Touhou communities, but I likely won’t be able to make it due to a night school class running long. Stupid school…

  • Another Canadian here, like a year after this was posted.

I’ve never had milk that wasn’t in a bag. Seriously. Well, I saw it at the store but never bought it, because it’s more expensive.
    Maybe it’s just a New Brunswick thing…
