Guessing

Physics exams are over! There wasn’t really that much guessing involved, except for a few questions I didn’t understand. Anyway, tomorrow is the last day of school, hooray! Finally!

  • Once upon a time, I was handed a graphing calculator in math class. I quickly discovered that you could program stuff onto it. I quickly began work on the next final fantasy game, but it wasn’t long after I had programmed random encounters that my calculator was taken away from me. I had never seen another one of these kinds of calculators since. The End.

Moral of the story: Math teachers ruin dreams.

  • I guess you shouldn’t take too long to program stuff, then. :3

  • lol

I do that often, working on other things than the test.

  • I roll dice, or choose answers using probability(A = 30% B=40% C=20% D=10%) and so on. Heh.

  • lol poor longhaired character

  • I remember a method involving the sides of your pencil…

  • @Kobayashi: Yeah, I do. I think it was the one where you write numbers on the sides of the pencil and roll it around. Another one was the eraser dice. The things we come up with as kids…

  • you can program stuff on calculaters!? O_O

  • I would’ve done some of these guessing techniques if I HAD options in the first place. No options = no guessing = no random math/chemistry/physics answers T_T (It’s not like I needed them, but oh well…)

Of course, faking your way to answers and random guesses in literature, social studies, or anything of the sort is still available =D

  • Replace with the calcy programming with sleeping and you get me haha xD

  • i see scantrons as ddr/itg/stepmania stepfiles

  • Ayup, I’ve designed a combat simulator on my graphic calculator before – well… what I could with its tiny memory. I’ve never faced random options in exams over here in the UK. Well, maths competition prelims were another matter, but they were evil:

“Choose wrong and you lose points”

So if you randomly guessed, on average you’d lose points. I think in some colleges, they get even more evil:

“Choose 1~3 out of these options” so you’re not even sure how many dice/pencils/erasers you’re meant to throw.

  • gawd, at times like those you should roll the pencil

  • Yay last day of school!
No school = moar flash :P

  • Just wait till you hit Electricity and Magnetism physics. All the scantrons in the world won’t be able to save you.

  • An exam for three hours!?
    I have never experienced…

  • I would’ve emailed this to you, but you don’t seem to have an email listed on this site.

It seems someone’s used create.swf to make a mock movie trailer:

  • Never had an exam that took three hours outside of the ACT which of course I aced mostly in math and science.
Though they were picky about what kind of calculator you can use on that test.
A Ti83,or HP 39 were ok to use but not any calculator with a full CAS like the 92.
Anything that looked basic or old such as the HP22s was considered ok as well.
Even a (9) could get every math question right with the CAS in the TI92 so I can understand why it’s not allowed.

I usually try to get tests finished as quickly as possible because often I was allowed to go do something else when I was finished.

I also never had to go to school during summer except for that one time I had to make up a few credits during my second year in college.
It was that or take the class at 7am.
I’m not a morning person so the choice was an easy one.

BTW did you know the TI83 has a Z80 cpu same as used in the gameboy and the TI92 and voyage have 68000 cpus the same processor in early macs?
That means you can use gcc for cross development on any linux or windows system.

  • Wearing headphones during an exam?!

    Oh, if only…

  • I am in love with headphones girl.

    I shall now draw pr0nz.

  • I’m a game programmer and I actually started my programming on graphing calculators back in the day. I programmed simple strategy games and my friends and I would kill time playing them, good times.

  • If in doubt, choose letter C; That’s what I go by.

  • I had a test today! … no multiple-choice though, it was all short-answer. Or medium-answer. :(

  • @42nddegree: Oh wow, I completely forgot about the headphones. Oh well.

  • @Ziv: I was waiting for someone to do something like this since the moment the create.swf superupdate came out. :D

  • @Ruri_chan
thanks for giving us your life story…

  • And this is how Pokémon was created
