Peer Pressure

All the cool kids are doing it!

Lemonade

Has anyone actually seen a lemonade stand in real life? I sure haven’t. How do I know they even exist outside of fictional childrens’ stories?

Watermelons

I’ve been eating watermelons a lot lately, and then I began wondering… what’s up with watermelon smashing? And what’s the connection between Suika and watermelons? Oh wait, I’m sure “sui” means water, so that may have something to do with it. Well I don’t actually know and I’m just making this up. But yeah. Watermelons.

AP scores

almost nine.

Well, I got back the results from that AP exam I took back in May. I got a five (out of five!), but it’s kinda weird because it didn’t come to me as that big of a surprise (unlike that time when I found out my SAT scores). It was just like “Oh, I got a five. That’s nice.” I think it’s because I kinda knew I’d do well. I really liked that essay I wrote about pennies, and I’m guessing the exam graders did too. I’d post what I wrote, but they don’t send back a copy of the essays. Or if they do, I didn’t get them.

In other news, when I was volunteering at that computer resource center today, I had to help some people film something, and it was quite painful. It involved fighting over a piece of gum, and there were some parts where I had to fall down. Since I’m not very good at acting, we had to redo the scenes a bunch of times to get it right, and so I had to fall down… a bunch of times. Now I think I have a newfound respect for people who act as stunt doubles in movies.

Educational Television

I feel like it’s been too long since the last daily flash, so I decided to make one today. For the past few weeks, I’ve been watching educational childrens’ television every weekday afternoon, because there’s nothing else on, and it’s actually quite interesting. It makes me feel smart because I know pretty much everything they’re teaching, but I occasionally get stuff wrong (well, it only happened once, but that still counts as “occasionally,” right?), and then I think “oh wow, am I that stupid, or are kids these days just really smart?” I hope it’s the latter.
