College Acceptance

This is definitely super-important, so rather than putting it in at the end of today’s other post, it gets its own post!


KirbyM got accepted to college and is speaking in the third person!

I applied early decision to Cooper Union for engineering (The school I was touring in this blog post), and I got in! I opened the envelope and the first thing I saw was the word “congratulations,” and I was all “woahhh!” in my head. It’s four years of free tuition (I think the only thing I have to pay for is a fee of $800 a semester and books), and it’s incredibly selective (I think each graduating class has only 120 people), so I was definitely surprised when I found out.

Parsee EWI

Well, as expected, today’s post is about Winn‘s latest EWI video starring Parsee. Excellent stuff yet again!

In other news, today was sports day (This sports day, not that other sports day where we go to Central Park). Our theme was supposed to be ninjas, but most of us just wore our black senior t-shirts (With a blue ’09 on the back! Hooray!). Our grade won (by a huge margin) the first two events: volleyball and boys basketball, and basically lost everything else. In the end, it was a three-way tie between every grade except the freshmen, who won absolutely nothing. Anyway, there weren’t too many year-chants (“twenty-oh-nine!” etc) from the other grades this year, probably because the other years don’t sound as nice (some juniors even said “twenty-oh-ten” but that was just stupid). It was definitely a lot more exciting than previous years, but I guess it’s just because I’m a senior and it was my last sports day at the school.

It also snowed a lot throughout the day, and I was like “yeah!!” but then when school ended, it was raining and the snow was all dark and mushy, and I was like “gosh darn it.”

The cool part is that this actually happened. Well, everything except the last few frames. Everyone was yelling and going “woahhhhh” and “woooooooo!” after it happened. That was perhaps the most exciting calculus class ever. For now, anyway. Given how awesome calculus is so far, it can only get more awesome. Did I mention how awesome calculus is?

Newspapers

Well, this one turned out way differently than what I had originally planned. The newspaper in here is a reference to AM New York, a free newspaper that they hand out around subway stations in the morning. Since it’s free, they get their money from advertising, and there are a ton of ads all over the newspaper. Most people just take a newspaper from whoever is passing them out, and then throw it away when they get to the nearest trash can. Last year when I used to go to school at a normal time (as in “not zero-period gym”), I’d often see these newspapers littered all over the sidewalk/street floor, on stairs, on subway seats, and especially around the trash can right outside the subway station entrance. Uhh… where was I going with this again? I have no idea. Oh yeah, we also took our senior portraits today. The waiting took forever.

Anyway, added Collateral Damage Studios to the links on the right. It has artwork and stuff. Yeah!

SWR Rockin’

Didn’t have much time to make a daily flash today either; I chose to focus on my college applications instead. And I finally got my commonapp college essay done, so I guess the hard part is over. Well, maybe besides waiting to be accepted or rejected from schools. I guess I’ll continue the Beowulf flashes tomorrow, unless some unforeseen circumstances arise, like having a ton of homework or something, but I doubt it (although it’ll probably happen now just because I said it wouldn’t).

Anyway, here’s a flash I had lying around. I made it around Thanksgiving, when I was in a mood to animate things, and I’m actually planning on using it for something else later. But since there’s a lack of interesting videos and other things to post, I guess I might as well just post it anyway. It’s Iku and Tenshi playing guitars. Well, Tenshi is anyway. Iku doesn’t really look like she’s playing it correctly. Or maybe she is. I don’t really know anything about guitars. And yes, it’s 30 frames per second.
